TESTIMONIALS

One of the best testimonials that Musselshell Outfitters, LLC and outfitter Randy Higgins has to offer is THE TEST OF TIME.  As of 2024, we have been here, in the same camp, the same hunting areas, with the same outfitter for 32 years. We have clients who hunted with us 32 years ago, and STILL book hunts with us. Talk is cheap, but our experience is real.

A quick note about the testimonial page. As veteran outfitters we have taken a large variety of clients. On this page we show some "famous" or well known clients only to help show the quality of our service. Every client in our camp is of equal importance. We have based our service on this concept since day 1. Everybody "puts their pants on one leg at a time". The well known people that we do show on this page were "down to earth" and a pleasure to have in our camp. We have hundreds of references from most any state in the U.S. that potential clients may call to verify the true reputation of Musselshell Outfitters, LLC.  Please do not hesitate to ask for references in regards to any hunting trips.

RAY EYE

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in the early 1950s, Eye entered the world of turkey hunting when neighbors were tight-lipped and books or magazines on the subject were scarce. Ray had to learn his hunting know-how the hard way—in the turkey woods.

"Musselshell Outfitters do everything you could ask of an outfitter and more. I have scheduled my fourth hunt with them and am positive I will be very well satisfied with everything."
Wayne Fricke, OH

"But most importantly I want to say that you have a first class operation going for you. You always greeted us when we returned from the field and asked us how our day was. I hope you will believe me when I say I had so much fun just hunting with your outfit that getting something was a bonus."
Joe Lautenschleger, MI

"Organized to the max. Super camp and food. Total devotion to a successful hunt and enjoyable experience."
John E. Gunlogson, MN

'Randy Hope all is well in Roundup!  Thank you so much for the wonderful Montana mule deer hunt last week.  I'm sure I will be sharing my experience with friends and family for quite some time.  Our 1 hour 20 minute stalk with Pat through the burn  to down a nice 4x4 was beyond belief.  My heart starts beating faster everytime I tell the story.  I've been accused of making the whole event up.  Good Lord willing, I will get a chance to come back and harvest another nice mule deer with you. Feel free to give my name out to potential clients.  I would be more than happy to tell them about your first rate facilities, right down from the camp, meals, guide and experience in the field. Tell Pat we said Hi !  Best of luck from Mike, Jim and Ray." Michael Freiburger--Mi-----2009 Rifle Mule Deer Client

"Randy,

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I really enjoyed the hunt this year.  Seen lots of Elk and had the opportunities, but I could not make it happen. You did everything you could to make our hunt enjoyable and successful and I appreciated hunting with you.  Hope to see you again in the near future.

Thanks
Troy Danielson"-- PA-- 2009 Bow Elk Client

The hunt was fantastic! I took my daughters, ages 13 & 15, on their first deer hunt. I wanted them to have a good overall experience so that they would enjoy hunting and want to go each season. Musselshell Outfitters provided a very quality experience and more. Every facet of the hunt - camp, food, number of animals, guides - was first class! I think is says it all when, upon completion of the hunt, I asked each of my daughters to rate the hunt on a 1-10 scale with all things considered and each girl gave Musselshell Outfitters a "10." I was very pleased with Randy Higgins, his guide, doug and the entire experience as a whole. I have younger sons and when they are of age I will no doubt take them back to Musselshell Outfitters. BELOW IS AN EMAIL FROM A SEPTEMBER 2012 ARCHERY ELK HUNTER WHO HUNTED WITH MUSSELSHELL OUTFITTERS, LLC-----FEEL FREE TO CALL ANY TIME FOR FURTHER REFERENCE.

Dear Randy,

First of all, I apologize for the delay in getting back to you; I meant to write this much sooner.

I just wanted to say that my hunt with you  was an unforgettable experience that I’ll remember the rest of my life. Many people define a hunt to be successful only after an animal is on the ground, I disagree. The time you, me, Marc and Karen spent together chasing bulls last year was truly extraordinary.

I’ll never forget our encounter with the “one step bull” (as he’ll now always be remembered). I felt as though my heart was going to explode from the amount of adrenaline that had been dumped into my bloodstream as he bugled and thrashed trees just out of our sight. I can remember watching my arrow shaking uncontrollably as you continued to call him in. When he finally stepped into view, I remember how his ivory tips had such a beautiful contrast against the pines behind him. I secretly wondered at that moment if I’d actually have the strength to draw my bow…

As he marched closer to your seductive calling, I can remember him stopping at just 30 yards to let out a bugle that I thought would surely rattle my fillings. I slowly shifted my feet during his bugle and actually had the strength to draw my bow as his head passed behind a tree as he continued to close the distance. Now at full draw with my top pin floating on his chest, I needed him to take one more step for a clear shot at the sweet spot behind his shoulder. It felt like an eternity as I held my bow back and willed him to take one… more… step…

I could see everything in my mind. He would take the step; I would pick a spot behind his shoulder and squeeze the trigger on my release. I would watch my fletching’s disappear into his hide and hear the unmistakable sound of my arrow striking home. But that step never came.

Although I didn’t harvest an animal during my trip, I get to re-live that encounter (along with a few other close calls) whenever I close my eyes. I’d like to thank you for that.

I can truly say without a doubt you “busted your hump” for Marc, Karen and I and did everything in your power to make our hunt enjoyable. You had very long days and even shorter nights the entire week; all to accommodate our needs. There’s no doubt in my mind we’ll hunt together again soon. Thank you again Randy.

BELOW IS AN EMAIL FROM A SEPTEMBER  BOW ELK HUNTER. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS HUNTER TOOK NOTHING HOME BUT MEMORIES, AS WE COULD NOT RETRIEVE HIS BULL. EVEN THOUGH WE TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONS, THIS IS HOW IT SOMETIMES WORKS IN THE REAL HUNTING WORLD.

Hi Randy, just wanted to let you know we got home alright after a tire blew in North Dakota going 80 mph and to thank you for a good hunt. We had a great hunt even though we came home without an elk. I still feel bad about not finding that bull but we sure tried. If you ever find him would you let me know how far it was and where it died. Also am curious to know how many points it had. Dennis and I both agreed it was the best bow-hunt for elk we've been on! Thanks for everything. Jim
